The Merritt College Fire Science program is designed to prepare students for a career in the fire service as well as for career advancement. Instruction includes fundamentals of fire prevention, building construction for fire protection, safety, and public education, certification, firefighter academy, and fire investigation.

Looking for a career in fire science?  The Fire Science program is designed to prepare students for a career in the fire service as well as for career advancement. Instruction includes fundamentals of fire prevention, building construction for fire protection, safety, and public education, certification, firefighter academy, and fire investigation.

Career paths can include traditional careers such as firefighters, fire investigators, and fire inspectors but can also open doors to jobs in emergency management, homeland security, and forensics.

Chief Fire Officer – Certificate of Achievement Chief Fire Officer – Certificate of Achievement

Fire protection is a highly specialized professional field, requiring extensive knowledge and use of scientific principles.

Fire Officer – Certificate of Achivement Fire Officer – Certificate of Achivement

The Fire Officer Certificate of Achievement program teaches successful application of the fundamental principles of fire protection including suppression of fires.

Fire Technology – A.S. Degree Fire Technology – A.S. Degree

The Associate in Science (AS) Degree in Fire Technology teaches successful application of the fundamental principles of fire protection including suppression of fires.

Fire Technology – Certificate of Achievement Fire Technology – Certificate of Achievement

The Fire Technology Certificate of Achievement program teaches successful application of the fundamental principles of fire protection including suppression of fires.
