Welcome To Merritt College!
Getting started at Merritt is easier than ever. Follow the steps below to complete your submission, connect with campus resources & register for classes.
New to Peralta, or haven’t taken a class at a Peralta college in the past two main semesters?

How To Get Started
Curious about the programs we offer? Explore our academic & career pathways ➜
1. Create an account ➜
You will receive emails confirming you've opened your account - save your CCCID number – this can be used to help find your application.
2. Complete the My Journey page and choose a program
3. Complete the remaining sections and submit.
4. Check For Your Welcome Email
Within about an hour of applying, you will receive an email from the college with your new Student ID. Use it to activate your student email and portal logins — you'll need this ID for everything that follows.

Explore Financial Aid
- Visit the Financial Aid Department to learn about your options.
- Complete the FAFSA at studentaid.gov.
- California Dream Act students can complete the application at dream.csac.ca.gov
- Merritt’s school code is 001267
Complete Orientation
To schedule an online orientation please contact Maria Spencer at mspencer@peralta.edu (Please be sure to include your full name).
You will learn important information about college policies, procedures, programs, and student support services.
Meet With A Counselor
Meet with a counselor to create your educational plan and prepare for registration.

Once you've completed the previous steps, you're ready to register for classes using the Student Portal.
- Complete ESOL Orientation if applicable.
- Log in to the Student Portal.
- Open the Manage Classes tile to search for and register for your classes.
Pay Your Fees
Click on "Financial Account" to pay for your registration fees online through your Student Campus Solutions.
Get Your Student ID
Bring a valid photo ID and your current class schedule to the Welcome Center (Building A-101) to receive your Laney student ID card and semester sticker.
Get Your Books & Course Material
You can purchase your textbook at the Peralta Campus Store either online or at Laney College, located in the A Building.
