MESA

About

The Math, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program at Merritt College supports historically underserved students who are pursuing calculus-based majors in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through a combination of academic support, transfer assistance, professional development, and enrichment activities, MESA empowers students to succeed in transferring and achieving success in STEM careers.

MESA students have access to a variety of services and support, including:

  • Priority registration
  • Academic counseling
  • Transfer assistance
  • Internship opportunities
  • Scholarship resources
  • STEM tutoring
  • Field trips to universities, scientific conferences, and industry sites
  • Workshops and special events
  • Professional development and leadership opportunities
  • Dedicated MESA center for study groups, workshops, community building, & support

Eligibility Requirements

  • Pursuing a Calculus-based Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math major*
  • 1st generation college student (neither parent has a Bachelor’s degree) OR graduated from an underperforming high school
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or AB540 student
  • Have not already earned a Bachelor’s degree

*Nursing and other Allied Health majors are not eligible
